The Year 11 Aerospace Studies students recently visited Mareeba Airport for an “Aviation Industry Introduction”.  Year 11 Aero  students visited the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) maintenance and training facility, the North Queensland Aero Club and the GBR Helicopter Training facility.  Some students were lucky enough to undertake a brief session in the MAF full-motion flight simulator! Students also had the opportunity to actually sit in many different types of aircraft and helicopters, including Cessna and Jabiru light aircraft and Robinson R22 and R44 helicopters.  The students were shown the many career opportunities that the aviation industry can offer by the people who actually work in the industry on a day-to-day basis.  The presentations by each organisation were very interesting and informative and the students learnt a great deal about aircraft systems and operations – an invaluable experience which the students thoroughly enjoyed!  Many thanks to the wonderful staff of Mission Aviation Fellowship, the North Queensland Aero Club and Great Barrier Reef Helicopters for their time and commitment to the Aerospace Studies subject.
