In week 6, students from Atherton High school along with
Mr. Roy McPherson participated in the Central Queensland University inaugural
CQU STEM Breakfast: A Recipe for Change, linking lecturers and students and
featuring Jessica Kahl, Dream big Founder, Big Idea Competition Finalist and
current engineering student, and Lydia O’Meara who has participated in a number
of unique social innovation opportunities that have arisen through studying
Medical Sciences with CQUni. The students were able to have breakfast and
listen to the two talented presenters talk about their journey to university
and the exciting opportunities that await with the invitation to ‘have a go’”.
The students were also able to participate in a noodle and marshmallow
engineering challenge (and almost won). The feedback from students was that it
was worthwhile and were able to see other amazing aspects of university and
what can come if you willing to put your hand up and have a go.
