Excellence in Physical Education Award

On the 19th of October Shana Backshall, Alice Phillips and Jordan Riesen travelled to Cairns for an interview for an Excellence in Physical Education award. This bursary award was offered to Year 12 students interested in pursuing a career in Physical Education, Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Medicine or a related field at a tertiary level. Certain criteria had to be meet to be eligible for the award including achieving a HA or VHA in HPE, evidence of studying a health related course in future tertiary studies, representing their school in at least two sports and demonstrating high levels of both sportsmanship and leadership. Prior to the interview Shana, Alice and Jordan also had to write an essay explaining the “importance of HPE” and the “difference between Sport and Health and Physical Education”. The judging panel asking many different questions about the students’ university aspirations, leadership and sporting achievements. Well done Shana, Alice and Jordan the school is proud of your efforts and good luck with your success in these endeavours, both for the award and your tertiary studies.
