A new extra-curricular
activity has started this term - Wednesday Magic! Every Wednesday, in Recess 1 and 2, students
meet in the library to play the collectible card game, Magic: The
Gathering. Magic was invented by
mathematician Richard Garfield and published by Wizards of the Coast in 1993. In terms of game play, Magic could be
described as a combination of chess and poker.
It is a complex game that combines strategy, logic and rapid
mathematical computations and it features over 16,000 unique cards that players
can use to design their deck. For the last 20 years Magic has
grown and evolved and today is published in six languages and is played by
over 12 million players across the globe.
Any students who play Magic or would like to learn are invited to come
along and give it a try. There is no
cost to participate and cards are available for students to borrow. Wednesday Magic is sponsored by Tableland Booksat 11 VernonSt, Atherton QLD 4883 who now stock a wide selection
of card and board games.
