The School Based Youth Health Nurse is part of the school community and works with young people, school staff and parents in creating a supportive and healthy school environment. The promotion of health and wellbeing within young people at school is central to the role.
The Youth Health Nurse can provide support, education and information about:
- healthy eating and physical activity
- feeling unhappy or stressed
- relationships
- personal and family problems
- growth and development
- sexual health
- healthy skin
- smoking, alcohol and other drugs
The Youth Health Nurse provides a confidential service for students, staff and parents and can connect young people to services outside the school community when required.
At Atherton State High School our Youth Health Nurse is Ms. Christina Silva. Her office is located within the Student Services building.
