Welcome to Atherton State High School

Educating the pride of our community for over half a century. Welcome to our website, where you can find information about our school, view our student's successes and find contact information.

Situated in the lush tropical highlands of far north Queensland, Atherton State High School is at the heart of our country community. Academic excellence, a supportive community and strong values allow Atherton State High School students to spread their wings aligned to our school purpose "Providing an educational service to our community that develops the physical, emotional, social and intellectual capability of the child so that they achieve their learning goals and the school achieves its headline indicators"

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the Land on which the school is built, the Tableland Yidinji People.

Atherton SHS has published a Junior Secondary position paper describing how we structure our school to welcome new students. Parents, students and community members are encouraged to participate in orientation activities to assist with Junior Secondary students successfully transitioning to become part of the Atherton High family.

You may wish to find out more about our innovative virtual campus, The Online College of Advanced STEM.  This virtual campus offers highly capable students the opportunity to study university level courses whilst still completing their high school studies.

We look forward to welcoming you as a member of the Atherton State High School family.
