WebPartZone1_1
Agriculture at Atherton State High School offers students a unique blend of classroom learning and hands-on experiences. From Years 7–12, students have opportunities to work with livestock, bees, gardens and a range of agricultural enterprises while developing practical skills, industry knowledge and an understanding of sustainable agricultural practices.

Through authentic learning experiences, students build confidence, responsibility and problem-solving skills while gaining a deeper appreciation for one of Australia's most important industries. Whether pursuing a future in agriculture or simply exploring a personal interest, students are supported to learn, grow and thrive through our vibrant Agriculture program.

Agricultural Clubs

Agricultural clubs provide students with opportunities to pursue their interests, develop practical skills and become actively involved in the life of the Agriculture program. Through Poultry Club, Goat Club and Cattle Club, students work alongside staff and peers while developing animal care, teamwork and livestock handling skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

Show Team and Competitions

Students have the opportunity to represent Atherton State High School at local and regional agricultural shows, showcasing the skills and knowledge developed through the Agriculture program. From preparing and exhibiting poultry to leading cattle in the show ring, students gain valuable experience, build confidence and take pride in representing their school. Cattle Club members also attend Cattle School, where they further develop their showmanship and livestock handling skills.

Facilities

Atherton State High School's Agriculture program is supported by a diverse range of facilities and enterprises that provide authentic learning opportunities throughout the year.

Students have access to cattle, goats, poultry, alpacas and bees, as well as orchards and vegetable gardens that support practical learning across a variety of agricultural settings. These facilities allow students to apply classroom knowledge while developing valuable industry skills and experience.
One of the things that makes Agriculture at Atherton State High School unique is that it is woven into the life of the school. From students caring for animals and tending gardens to walking goats and alpacas around the grounds, agriculture is a visible and valued part of our community. These experiences create memorable learning opportunities while fostering responsibility, connection and a genuine passion for agriculture.
