Representative sport

WebPartZone1_1
Atherton State High School is proud to support students in pursuing representative sporting opportunities at district, regional, state and national levels. Through the Queensland Representative School Sport pathway, students can trial and compete in a wide range of sports while representing their school, region and state. These experiences provide opportunities for students to challenge themselves, develop their skills and compete alongside some of the best young athletes in Australia.

Representative Sports Pathways

ASHS students have opportunities to represent their school through the Queensland Representative School Sport pathway. Students may nominate to trial for Peninsula School Sports throughout the year.

Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country follow a specific pathway. Students must first qualify through the school’s Athletics, Swimming or Cross Country Carnival before progressing to Peninsula.

Students interested in trialling for a representative sport should review the trial calendar (Click the button below) and speak with Mr Galloway in the Health Staffroom regarding eligibility and nomination requirements.

School Sports Teams

Atherton State High School aims to participate in a range of sporting carnivals and competitions throughout the year. Where possible, the school puts together teams in sports such as soccer, rugby, cricket and netball. While we strive to offer these opportunities each year, participation may vary depending on student interest, availability and competition schedules. These events provide students with valuable opportunities to represent the school, develop teamwork skills and compete against other schools across the region.
Students interested in trialling for a representative sport or joining a school sporting team should visit the Health Staffroom and speak with Mr Galloway.

Information regarding eligibility, upcoming trials, nomination processes and representative pathways is available throughout the year. Students will also be required to complete the necessary trial form (link below) prior to participating in trials
Whether competing for Atherton State High School, Peninsula, Queensland or Australia, representative sport provides students with opportunities to pursue excellence, challenge themselves and showcase their talents on larger stages.
